How does Lymph-edema develop?

LE often develops in one arm or leg, but may be present in both arms and both legs. It may also occur in the hands or feet and even in the chest, back, neck, face, abdomen and genitals.

Primary LE – This occurs when a person is born with a faulty lymphatic system. Symptoms may be present from birth or develop later.

Secondary LE – This occurs when there has been damage to the lymphatic system; which include surgeries, radiation therapy or severe injuries (burn or skin infection)
