Exercising on land can have many benefits, however can cause many injuries, there are other ideal alternatives one can look into such as swimming in a lake, pond, or swimming pool

Here are six benefits of exercising in water:

  1. Low impact on joints: Water gives you buoyancy (helps you float). Since you float, there is less impact on your joints and hence, lower risk of injury.
  2. Decreases body temperature: Exercising outside of water causes your body to overheat, in addition to the summer heat, the body can overheat much faster than usual. Water exercises provides a cooling system which prevents you from overheating.
  3. The ability to rest: You can remain in the water and use resting strokes as a break or just float!
  4. Maintaining movement and toning muscle: Since exercising in the water provides buoyancy your joints stay nimble. In addition to this, the resistance of the water helps keep muscles toned.
  5. Supports the whole body: Due to water's buoyancy, there is no stress on your spine and posture when going through the water.

So get on in the pool and exercise comfortably knowing that you have less of a chance for injury! Stay active and healthy this summer!
