Orthotic Modifications
Orthotics can be modified to create a best fit for each person. Most people have overpronated feet, when trying to assess the extent of the feet problems, we always start with a basic sub talar neutral position for casting. Gait scans or dynamic assesments can be very helpful to determine the severity or need for custom orthtotics.
Modifications can help to make a custom orthotic that can help, most of the time we want to add support or stability to the rear heal with the heel cup or the other orthotic modication can include supporting the feet and arches across the transverse arch or longitudinal arch will increase the control during midstance.
Custom orthotics and cast modifications designed to decrease excessive medial compartment stress, that are common in cases that are related to posterior tibial tendon dysfunction or plantar fasciitis. Additionally extremely pronated feet heel counters may be required to add leverage or support to the ankle.
Each custom orthotic that we make for our patients is done with both a 3D molding technique and additional customization is made using a digital dynamic gait scan. Additional stability to the talus, cuboid, forefoot, achilles tendon, heel or toes can be achived. Ask us about your personal needs.
