Pain in the achilles tendon is rather common among active and athletic individuals. This condition is not cased by inflammation; it occurs as a reslt of weakness or dysfunction in the achilles tendon. It may present itself as a sharp pain that may slightly feel like "poking". It may result from poor running form, excessive hills, wearing high heels too often, or shoes that do not support the foot, such as flip flops.
