What does sEMG stand for?

sEMG stands for surface electromyography.  sEMG is a device which measures the amount of electrical activity your muscles release when they are contracting, more commonly known as muscle tension. It is similar in function to an EKG which measures heart muscle activity.

Is it painful?

Not at all. It is totally non-invasive and does not cause pain or irritation.  This makes it totally safe for infants, children, pregnant women or seniors.  It simply requires the placement of small probes against the skin, which measure the muscle activity. The test taking less than a few minutes.

Why is muscle activity important?

Muscles have a tendency to "brace" in response to stress or injury. This is part of the responce of the body that leads to vertebral subluxation.  Nerve stress or irritation can affect not just muscles and joints, but also blood vessels and internal organs.  If the bodies ability to regulate and control your health is affected, this may lead to high readings.

What do the results mean?

Colours indicate levels of varying tension: normal levels are green, orange and red are higher levels. The more imbalance and higher readings indicate your health may be compromised indicating the presence of stress and tension in the body.  This affects your body's ability to maintain optimal health even if you don't have any symptoms.

How do treatments affect my sEMG?
